Quran - Code of Conduct

Quranic Code of Conduct
Do's and Do not do's in the Quran
Compiled by: A.Muhammad

The Holy Quran provides a recipe for salvation and redemption as well as a comprehensive manual detailing how to lead a righteous life. The manual contains a detailed Code of Conduct by which one can purify the 'self' and attain nearness to God.

It has been claimed by some that the Quran contains the broad guidelines of how believers should conduct themselves but does not detail the full Islamic Code of Conduct. They add that the latter can only be found in the hadith and sunna of the prophet. This article refutes this claim by presenting the comprehensive Quranic Code of Conduct which covers all aspects of behaviour. The Quranic Code of Conduct covers the relationship between the believer and His Maker and also the relationship between the believer and other humans.

Apart from a small number of instructions that were related specifically to the time of the revelation, such as the instructions related to some battles, or others that were addressed only to the prophet or his wives, all the 'do's' and the 'do not do's' in the list below are addressed to all people and for all times. The relevant Quranic verse numbers are accompanied for the reader's convenience.
